OBITUARY

Thomas Barrett

Thomas Barrett, a long time resident of Roseville and area dentist, passed away at the age of 82. Born in Wisconsin to Arthur and Catherine, Tom earned his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison. He then went on to earn his D.D.S from Marquette University in Milwaukee. On graduation, in 1954, he spent 2 years as a dental officer with the Navy at Camp Pendleton, CA. After his service, he started a dental practice in Greenbay, Wisconsin. On July 17, 1954, he married the love of his life, Helen. Over the following years, Dan, Brian, Roberta and Neil joined the family. After 9 years of his dental career he moved their family to California with the encouragement of another dentist and good friend. Tom was known to love not only his family, but had a real love of skiing with his family, fishing, golfing and enjoying his season tickets to the Greenbay Packers during the Vince Lombardi era.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Helen; their 4 children, Dan, Brian (Vicki), Roberta (Dave), and Neil (Kirsten); grandchildren Shannon, Cody, Shaun, Cody, Sofi, Zachary and Adam; his sister Kathy (Dick) and brother Kevin. A visitation from 4-6pm will be held on Tuesday, August 6 with a rosary to follow at 6pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks. A memorial mass will follow on Wednesday, August 7 at 2pm at Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4450 Granite Drive in Rocklin. While it may be a bit unusual to sign the guest book as a family member, I was taken completely by surprise that it even existed on-line and thank everyone who signed this from the bottom of my heart. The stories, memories and words of encouragement are truly uplifting. Again, thank you all for taking the time to sign this.

Dr. Thomas Barrett was my first dentist while growing up in Citrus Heights. I saw him at his dental office from elementary school all the way through my teens. He was always kind and I still remember getting a lollipop for being a good patient before leaving his office. He treated my Father Gene, Mother Marie, and my two sisters, Karen and Carla Bergkamp. If I remember correctly, Helen was the receptionist/office manager back then? I still remember what the office looked like. A block building with a low profile. It was a very nice professional looking building. My sincere condolences to his wife Helen and family.

Kathy and I had a lot of good times at Helen and Tom's. Both at their home and at their cabin in the mountains. I had many crowns and bridges made by Tom. My dentist called my bridge a "Hollywood" bridge. He was a good guy and will be sorely missed. Out sympathy to Helen and his family.

Went out and fished some of my dad's old musky lures, I know tom used to fish muskies in wi with my dad though I never fished with him, we always talked about fishing when we met. I would like to think that wherever you go when this life ends that there are lakes full of fish and forests full of game.

I remember Dr. Tom as a very talented dentist in Green Bay. He did several gold crowns for me while I was in high school. I still have them and have received compliments on their quality from other dentists in Milwaukee, Massachusetts, and back in Green Bay. Sorry to lose such a great and gifted cousin. Sorry, Charlie Apple

Spent much time in Peshtigo growing up with the Barrett cousins. Tom was an excellent athlete, and in particular enjoyed watching him box and play football. Many good memories. All our sympathy to Helen and the family. Cousin Robert and Mary Jean Apple
