Thomas Barrett, a long time resident of Roseville and area dentist, passed away at the age of 82. Born in Wisconsin to Arthur and Catherine, Tom earned his undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin, Madison. He then went on to earn his D.D.S from Marquette University in Milwaukee. On graduation, in 1954, he spent 2 years as a dental officer with the Navy at Camp Pendleton, CA. After his service, he started a dental practice in Greenbay, Wisconsin. On July 17, 1954, he married the love of his life, Helen. Over the following years, Dan, Brian, Roberta and Neil joined the family. After 9 years of his dental career he moved their family to California with the encouragement of another dentist and good friend. Tom was known to love not only his family, but had a real love of skiing with his family, fishing, golfing and enjoying his season tickets to the Greenbay Packers during the Vince Lombardi era.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Helen; their 4 children, Dan, Brian (Vicki), Roberta (Dave), and Neil (Kirsten); grandchildren Shannon, Cody, Shaun, Cody, Sofi, Zachary and Adam; his sister Kathy (Dick) and brother Kevin.
A visitation from 4-6pm will be held on Tuesday, August 6 with a rosary to follow at 6pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks. A memorial mass will follow on Wednesday, August 7 at 2pm at Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4450 Granite Drive in Rocklin. A reception in his honor will follow immediately after the service at Woodcreek Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Tom’s name to the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association.
