Thomas Murray O’Maley, 87, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2018. He was born February 6, 1931 to Thomas and Mary O’Maley in Salem, MA. He was raised in Bevery, MA and attended St John’s Prep and Boston College. He served in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps. In 1956 he began his service as a special agent with the FBI. During his bureau service Baltimore, Ft. Worth, Dallas, Amarillo Quantico, and Sacramento.
He was an instructor at FBI Academy where he taught new agents, in service students and NEI. He was with FBI for over 27 years until his retirement then he began his second career teaching law enforcement at Sacramento State University for ten years. After 9/11 he was called back by FBI to do background investigations.
Thomas is survived by his sister, Maureen Griffin (Jim) of Beverly, MA, his four daughters, Kathleen Frey (Marcel) of Houston, TX, Jane Filiti of Carmichael, CA, Mary Ann Van Noland (Frank) of Citrus Heights, CA, and Karen Cross (Rich) of Auburn, CA; her son, Thomas O’Maley Jr. (deceased); her eight grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) and Thomas Frey of Houston, TX, Jeffrey Frey (Alicia) of Columbus, OH, Lillian Cross of Sacramento, CA Andrew and Ben Cross of Auburn, CA, Audrey and Elliott Van Noland of Citrus Heights, CA; three great-grandchildren, Cadence and Case Frey of Columbus, OH, Oliver Frey of Houston, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
A Rosary and Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 10:30AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 5751 Locust Ave, Carmichael, CA. 95608,
