

Verna Mae "Pat" Bold. 90yrs, went peacefully into the presence of her Lord, on
Wednesday, May 11, 2011. She passed at the Care Providers at Arden.
Verna was born, November 8th, 1920, to Thomas Henry Devlin and Elvis Bertella
Morris, in Watsonville, CA. At the age of two, her parents moved to Hayward,CA.
She attended Hayward Elementary and Hayward High School, her parents moved
again, and she graduated from San Jose High School at the age of 16, and graduated
from San Jose State College at the age of 20. She married her sweetheart
Robert Cecil Bold, on August 8, 1942, in Reno, NV, and were married 69 years.
Settling in Sacramento, she found her first teaching job in Clarksburg, as the city
of Sacramento could not hire married teachers at that time. Pat taught 2nd grade
at Clarksburg, 3 yrs. Due to the building of the Capital City Freeway, they had
had to move. It was then that her husband, Robert designed and built their
present home. Then continuing teaching at
Pope Avenue Elementary, 2 yrs., Deterding Elementary, 14 yrs.,
teaching kindergargen, later years with 2 class sessions, morning and afternoons,
and Garfield Elementary 6 yrs., with the remaining years going back to school to
keep her credentials, and during that time started their family of the '5 J's';
Janice Lynn (Harlan F. Jones), James R. (Terry Pfardresher), Judith Lee (Norman
Lambert), Jack Dale, and Jerri Ann (Michael E. Kehoe).
Robert and Pat built a summer cabin, finding a lot to build on in Cedar Flat, Lake
Tahoe,CA, and spent their summers there vacationing with the 5 J's. During this
time, Pat also was a Blue Bird leader, continuing on to become a Camp Fire Girl's
leader for 7 yrs. She herself was a Camp Fire Girl when she grew up. Then a Cub
Scout and Boy Scout leader. Their free time was spent enjoying the great outdoors,
tennis, bicycling, hiking, camping, gardening, and a family favorite skiing the Sierra's.
Then in her later years, ran the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco, with her son
James, and Granddaughter Krishna.
Another favorite was sailing, as her husband Robert, and son, Jack, built "Tauri,"
a 32 ft West Sail in the side yard, and launching it in 1985 the year she retired. They
enjoyed cruising the American River, and sailing the Delta and Bay.
Pat also loved her Jackie Sorensen Arobics group and participated until she was
88yrs..
Predeceasing her, is her Mother, Father, brother Morris Marvin Devlin, Grandson
Brett Harlan Jones, and Great Grandson, Matthew Eastman.
Pat is survived by her sisters, Elvis Bertha Horn (Rev. Paul Erwin Horn) and
Louise Beth Waxham (Frank )
Pat has 6 Grandchildren, Krishna Gene Bold, Alyssa Leigh Jones, Major Ryan
Kehoe, Tamer Lynn Kehoe, Matthew James Bold and Dennis Eastman.
11 Great Grandchildren: Tiffani Cecilia Jones, Daniel Brett Jones, Samantha Page
Jones, Micah Stephen Eastman, Luke Samuel Eastman, Caleb Joshuha Eastman,
Josiah Timothy Eastman, Isaiah Daniel Eastman, Emalyn Grace Kehoe, Lillian Faith
Kehoe, Ellie Ruth Eastman.
Family and friends may visit May 19, 2011 from 4:00-7:00pm at Mt.Vernon
Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628
Memorial services will be held May 20, 2011 at 2:30pm at Carmichael Presbyterian
Church, 5645 Marconi Aveue, Carmichael, CA 95608
Graveside services at 3:45pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park and Reception
following at Carmichael Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat's name to Mercy Hospice,
or Carrmichael Presbyterian Church.
