Walter Joseph Beehler

Walter Joseph Beehler was born November 13, 1931, in Solen, North Dakota where he was raised on a farm along with his seven siblings. As a young boy, Walter rode his horse to school and played drums in the school band. After graduation from high school, Walter was drafted into the Army where he served as a Field Wireman in Korea with the 25th Infantry Division 64th Field Artillery Battalion, and he fought in two of the battalions ten campaigns. Walter was wounded in combat and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Walter studied bookkeeping at Fargo Business College. In 1956, he moved to California with his wife and young daughter; he began his successful career with Bank of America starting as a teller and retiring from the bank 34 years later as a Vice President. Walter was active in the communities where he lived and was an active member of the Elks, Lions and Kiwanis club. Walter was also a loyal and faithful Oakland A’s fan, avid golfer, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed traveling and taking long trips in his RV which enabled him to visit all 50 states.

Walter is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie Beehler, his parents Phillip and Frances Beehler, his brothers Leo, Joseph, Ralph and Frank Beehler and sister Anna Marie Beehler. He is survived by two sisters, Arlene Hoffman and Regina Leingang, his children Doris Denniger (Mike Huff), Ron Beehler (Julie) and Carla Potts (Greg). He also leaves behind his three grandchildren: Colby Potts, Lindsey Beehler and Kelsey Beehler.

A Celebration of Life will be held December 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Mt. Vernon Funeral Memorial Park. A burial service and reception will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
