Bill was born in Oklahoma and spent his early years there on a farm with his large family.
He joined the Army when WWII was happening and shipped overseas to fight the war. He landed in Normandy after the infamous Normandy invasion. He experienced terrible war times as all the soldiers did but he did have an opportunity to travel through Europe which he did enjoy.
After his discharge from the Army he settled in Barstow, California where he met Herminia Arredondo who was to become his wife after a three week courtship. Bill worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Barstow and later worked as an aircraft electrician at the Army base there. He was transferred to San Bernadino and his son, Buddy was born during that time. The family moved to Citrus Heights, California, when Buddy was 12 years old and lived there until Buddy went into the Army and then Bill and Minnie moved to a townhouse in Roseville for a few years. They eventually bought their home in Orangevale, California, and after a time Bill retired from McClellan Air Force Base.
Bill was an avid golfer and played often at Diamond Oaks Gold Club and Indian Creek Country Club. He and his son Buddy played together often and they both won many tournaments. Bill enjoyed his retirement years golfing and going on cruises with Minnie and visiting his son and daughter in law and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and working around his home. He always had a “project” going.
A few years after the death of Minnie, Bill’s health began to fail and he and his dog “Buddy” went to live with his son, Buddy, and daughter-in-law, Sharon. He enjoyed living in Rocklin with them and traveled the neighborhood on his scooter.
After a lengthy illness Bill became a resident of A-Plus Senior Care. He enjoyed visits from his family and Sharon’s dog Blondie. He was cared for there until his death.
Bill enjoyed his life and homes and family and pets and lived a long full life.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, California 95628, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
