William Robert Peterson

Bob Peterson, 73, passed peacefully in his sleep at home in Citrus Heights on Saturday April 6, 2019 after battling ALS for three years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Janet (Schwin) along with his dearly loved children: son, Scott Peterson (wife, Kris), and daughter, Stacey Wilson (husband, Jeremy). He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren: Ben, Owen, Luke, & Claire and two sisters, Karen Burror & Leslie Almeida.

Bob was born in Schenectady, New York January 25, 1946 & raised in Lafayette, California. He followed in his dad, Bill’s, footsteps receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO. There he developed a love of guitar and played in 2 bands: “The Illusions” & “No Deposit No Return”. June 22, 1968 Bob married the love of his life, Janet.

After Janet’s graduation, the couple moved to Redding where their son Scott was born. Later the family moved to Fair Oaks where Stacey was born and where they lived for 3o years. Bob served as a well respected manager of GE’s Northern California field engineering in Sacramento for many years. Later he and two other colleagues formed the very successful , “Wave Engineers Inc. “

Bob loved playing golf with friends, but his passion was playing guitar. He’d always find a way to add a blues riff to any song. Every Friday night Janet was his date. They’d watch a movie, go to dinner, or just take a walk. Bob loved backpacking with his son or traveling on a cruise ship to anywhere in the world.

His strong faith in Christ and quiet endurance through the difficulties of ALS brought inspiration to all who knew him. He loved attending Sunday Church services, small group, playing poker with friends, Wednesday Men’s Bible study, and going to Starbucks with his buddies. Every week he enjoyed visits from friends, his children, grandchildren, & sisters. He will be deeply missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Community Church 5025 Manzanita Blvd Carmichael, CA 95608 on Friday May 10 at 11 am. A Luncheon reception at the church will follow the service.
