Adrian Reyes, Jr., a cherished husband and father, peacefully passed away and entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and sons. His passing was due to complications arising from a sudden illness which he fought very hard to overcome.
He was born on March 30, 1961, and grew up in Brackettville, Texas. Adrian dedicated his life to serving his country. He enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with distinction. A few years later, he transitioned to a career as a United States Border Patrol Agent, where he swiftly rose through the ranks. He retired as a Watch Commander at the Hebbronville, Texas station within the Laredo Sector. Adrian was renowned for his expertise in “tracking and cutting sign”, a technique employed to follow movement in order to effectively prevent the entry of illegal aliens and drugs into our country. His unwavering commitment to safeguarding our borders was evident in his dedication to his work. While he often missed family events and holidays, as is customary for agents, he prioritized justice above all else. Adrian was fiercely protective and supportive of his fellow agents, always going above and beyond to fulfill his duties. Although he relished the management position that came with his career advancement, those who worked with him could attest to his deep-seated love for working in the field. He reveled in the thrill of jumping fences, lying in wait, and working on sensors. Adrian retired in 2017 and embraced a new chapter in his life, dedicating himself to various projects and tending to his dream home and its landscaping.
Most of all, he was happiest when he was with his wife of 32 years. Adrian found immense joy in spending quality time with her, often taking her on thrilling adventures and vacations. When he became a grandfather, his life gained a profound new purpose. His grandbabies adored their “Papa,” and they would often ignore everyone else the moment he was in their presence. Adrian made it a point to spend as much time with them as possible, as they held a very special place in his heart and he was wholly devoted to them, just as he was to his family. He will be fondly remembered as an exceptional, steady, and genuine family man.
Most mornings, he could be found at the coffee shop eating breakfast and talking politics with his crew, telling jokes, and strategizing about making Falfurrias a perfect community to live in. Adrian was a spiritual man of God and an active member of The Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He participated in various activities and projects within the parish, and within the community overall. He was often found landscaping around the grounds or lending a helping hand wherever one was needed. He served on numerous ACTS Retreats, as a team member, a Co-Director, and as a Director, which he considered a privilege. He was also a member of The Brooks County ISD School Board. After retiring, he worked security for the school district. Throughout his life, he felt a strong calling to serve his community in any capacity and never hesitated to sacrifice his time in the name of serving. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly. As a hobby, he was a locksmith and was certified with expertise in small engine repair.
Adrian enjoyed spending time at his small ranchito, maintaining his numerous gardens, and raising goats, a passion he inherited from his father, his role model and personal hero. The best part of that passion was sharing his knowledge with his treasured baby girl, Carly, who showed her goats at the county fair. She’d typically tell her Yaya that only her and her Papa knew what they were doing so she need not bother accompanying them to the ranchito to feed and work on the animals. She would say they were the only ones who knew what to do. They were two peas in a pod and loved to share secrets. He had a unique bond with his grandbabies.
Left behind to cherish the wonderful life he provided are his loving and devoted wife Bel Carrasco-Reyes, sons Joseph (Chelsea) Reyes, and Jake Reyes from Falfurrias, Texas. They were the best parts of him. He leaves behind his beloved granddaughter, Carly Brianne Reyes, and his grandson, Adrian Joseph Reyes, who were both the absolute joy of his life. He truly enjoyed every moment he spent with them. He is also survived by his sons, Adrian Reyes, III and John Reyes. Additionally, Adrian is survived by his sister, Ana Belia Reyes (Erasmo). Surviving him as well are numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Reyes, Sr. and Francisca Reyes; his sisters, Beatriz Kuhns, and Bertha Flores; his father-in-law, Rolando Carrasco, Sr., his mother-in-law, Hilda Cantu Carrasco, and brother-in-law, John David Carrasco.
Throughout his life, Adrian was a compassionate and loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered. His loss will be felt for generations. He was the kind of person who made everyone feel like they mattered and never hesitated to listen to or help anyone who needed him. His patience and kindness was unparalleled.
…rest easy guarding the gates of heaven.
