With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Aguinaldo “Auggie” S. Cavazos, who entered eternal rest on January 2, 2026, at the age of 63, at a hospital in Alice, Texas. He was born on August 31, 1962, to Jesus M. Cavazos and Edna Salinas Cavazos in Falfurrias, Texas, and spent most of his life in Concepcion, Texas, a place he proudly called home.
Auggie was truly one of God’s special souls. He had a gentle spirit and a joyful heart that brought light into every room he entered. He loved deeply and openly, and in return, he was loved by all who knew him. His laughter, his smile, and his presence made people feel accepted and cherished. Aguinaldo had a way of reminding everyone around him what pure kindness looked like.
He found joy in the simple things in life. He loved watching movies, Twister was his all-time favorite, and listening to music, especially songs by Michael Jackson and Nick Villarreal. He enjoyed playing basketball, riding bikes, and spending time with his friends at the R.E.A.L., moments that brought him so much happiness. He was also known for his love of food and snacks, often saying everything was his favorite, especially sodas and fried chicken. One of his most recurring sayings was, “No good for sh!t,” which he learned from his father and always shared with a smile.
Aguinaldo is now reunited in heaven with his beloved parents, Jesus and Edna Cavazos; his brothers-in-law, Ruben Munoz and Oscar Rene Garcia; and many cherished aunts and uncles who welcomed him home.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving sisters, Carolina “Curly” Cervantes-Munoz of Freer, Texas, Yolanda Garcia, and Mariselda (Raul) Garcia, both of Benavides, Texas; nieces and nephews, Ruben Austin Munoz, Wanda (A.R., Sr.) Canales, Oscar Rene (Crystal) Garcia, Jr., Jessica Renee (Zachary) Hink, Joe Anthony (Monyca) Garcia, Edna Lee Garcia, and Criselda Marie Garcia; great-nieces and nephews, Heidi E. Munoz, Jonathan Canales, Brandon Canales, A.R. Canales, Jr., Javier Cardenas, Jr., Miranda R. Garcia, Kaydence M. Garcia, Oscar R. Garcia III, Greyson R. Garcia, Tobias M. Garcia, Summer G. Garcia, Troy L. Garcia, and Penelope R. Garcia; his great-great-nephew, Jonathan R. Canales Jr.; along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and be loved by him.
