Our beloved mother, Alicia S. Arredondo, earned her angel wings on Monday, August 23, 2021 at her residence in Hebbronville, Texas at the age of 87. She was surrounded by her family who comforted and prayed over her as she transitioned into her eternal rest.
Alicia was born on March 27, 1934 in Randado, Texas to Miguel Salazar and Genoveva Flores Salazar.
Since as far back as can be remembered, she has always been a very caring and sweet person with a big heart. She loved and valued her children and grandchildren dearly. She always made herself available to help care for her grandchildren. This gave their parents the ability to work or attend college to better themselves for their families.
She instilled in her children the importance of being faithful, honest, respectful, appreciative and hardworking. Alicia also taught her children and grandchildren to be generous, caring and always thoughtful of others. She lived by example, always giving back to her community, with joy in her heart. She enjoyed volunteering at the local nutrition center and nursing home. Visiting the residents there and being able to call the bingo at both locations was something she appreciated and was happy to do without hesitation.
Although supporting herself with a minimal income, Alicia, would always manage to find ways to donate to her favorite charities, especially the Veterans organizations and St. Jude Hospital for childhood cancer. She would always participate in local fundraising efforts as well.
Alicia was very devoted to the church and her faith in the Lord. She enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years and making friendships with the fellow members. Although she will be deeply missed by all her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her, she has instilled great morals and paved the pathway of how life should be lived in many.
Alicia is reunited in Heaven with her parents; husband, Antonio M. Arredondo; daughter, Alcira Arredondo; siblings, Beto (+Herlinda) Salazar, Tomas (+Celina) Salazar, Octavio Salazar, Rafael (+Luisa) Salazar, Miguel (+Herlinda) Salazar, Leonor (+Lauriano) Rios, Horacio Salazar, Corina (+Jaime) Gomez and infant, Elisa Salazar.
She leaves many fond memories that will be cherished by her children; Antonio (Judith) A. Arredondo, Irma (Juan) Molina, Carlos Arredondo and Selma DeLeon; brother, Lauro (Minerva) Salazar; sister-in-law, Lucy M. Salazar all of Hebbronville; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Ariel Arredondo, Alexis Arredondo, Derek Jauregue, Omar Mendoza, Eli Mendoza, Aaron Jauregue and Raul Narvaez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Irvette Mendoza, Sivonney Molina and Aleyda Narvaez.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville and services will conclude with Burial at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Omar Garza, nurse Mary Vivanco, Medteam and it's provider services for the love and care of our mother.
