

Alma Salazar, affectionately known as “Mother” and “Aunt Alma,” went to her eternal home on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the age of 94. She lived a long beautiful life leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, and a deep love for her church, family, and friends. Her devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ was a true testimony to all who knew her. Born on December 20, 1930, in Premont, Texas, to Calixto and Rita Galbert Salazar, Alma was raised alongside five siblings. She graduated from Premont High School in 1948 and went on to dedicate more than 40 years of her life serving the community as Premont’s Tax Assessor.
A devoted and lifelong member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont. She was a member of Saint Theresa women’s club for years. Alma was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 30 years. She served as region president from 1997 to 2001. Her faith was not just personal—it was active and visible in her tireless community work. For many years, Alma organized the monthly food drive for Jim Wells County. Taking great joy to ensure that families had groceries and special meals – especially turkey dinners during the holidays. She found deep fulfillment in helping those in need. Taking delight in organizing toy drives for children. Alma also enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved fishing, tending to her yard, traveling and sharing laughter and stories over her favorite meal at Kings Inn with loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Maria Richardson, Ofelia Lerma, and Carmen Young; her brothers, Arnold Salazar, and Leonel Salazar; and her beloved niece Cateche Dike.
Alma is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who will miss her dearly. While her absence will be deeply felt, her loved ones find comfort in knowing she lived a full, joyful, and faithful life.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church - 235 SW 4th Street in Premont. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to follow at 9:30 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 10:15 a.m. Services will conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
