

Aminta M. Munoz, 83, a resident of Hebbronville, Texas passed away Monday morning, March 7, 2011, at Life Care Hospital in McAllen, Texas surrounded by her family. Aminta was born on November 5, 1927, in Hebbronville, Texas to Enrique Montalvo and Hortencia Ramirez Montalvo. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Arcadio F.(Tito) Munoz, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Enrique Montalvo, and her brother, Ricardo Montalvo.
Our mother, Aminta, began her career as a high school secretary and later obtained her Bachelor of Science and Masters degree, where she graduated cum laude from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. After a successful career as an elementary teacher, she retired in 1992. She stressed the importance of education, perfect attendance, and exemplified perserverance and a strong work ethic. She had a love of books, nature, folkloric dancing, and travel which took her to Europe, Mexico, Washington D.C., New York City, Las Vegas, and many destinations across America. Our mother was also a leader in the community. She served as AARP President, was active in the Catholic Daughters of America, Cenizo Garden Club, Retired Teachers, and other civic organizations.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons--Hugo R. (Rosario) Munoz from Edinburg, Texas, Mario A. Munoz from Corpus Christi, Texas, David D. (Marta) Munoz from San Isidro, Texas, and one daughter, Nelda F. (Ignacio) Garcia from Edinburg, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren--Rene Mario Munoz from Austin, Texas, Rebecca Munoz from Corpus Christi, Texas, Daniella Garcia from Edinburg, Texas, and Jesus Ignacio Garcia from Houston, Texas; five sisters--Viola Alarcon from North Carolina, Minerva Garza from Hebbronville, Texas, Feliza Garza from Corpus Christi, Texas, Marina Saenz from Stafford, Texas, and Frances Paz from McAllen, Texas.
On behalf of the Munoz family, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at Life Care Hospital in McAllen, Texas for the care and devotion shown to our beloved mother. We would also wish to extend our gratitude to all of the staff and administration at Bridges Assisted Liviing Facility in Edinburg, Texas and Arbor View Nursing Home in McAllen, Texas. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville, Texas. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville, Texas.
