Anselma A. Pena entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at her residence in Premont, Texas, at the age of 88. She was born September 19, 1937, to Julian Arellano and Sofia Herrera Arellano in Premont. Anselma worked in the fields for many years of her life. She also worked in the cafeteria with Premont ISD for several years.
Anselma loved to sew and cook. She was an outspoken, friendly, and strong-minded person with a caring heart. When her parents passed away, she raised her younger siblings with love and compassion.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents; husband, Jose Angel Pena; sons, Arnulfo Pena, Alejos Pena, and Alfonso Pena; her daughter, Adelaida Pena; granddaughter, Gloria Ann Pena; and her siblings, Angelita (Don) Garza, Adelina Garza, Hector Arellano, and Adolfo Arellano.
She leaves behind many memories with her sons, Arnoldo (Nora) Pena of Edinburg, Texas, Abel (Shanti) Pena of Arizona, Adan (Annabel) Pena of Yorktown, Texas, and Alberto Pena of Devine, Texas; daughter, Maria (Joe) Gonzalez of Premont; brother, Jose Luis (Sabrina) Arellano of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Lydia Palacios of Premont, Amelia (Sid) Floyd of Louisiana, Aurora Cabrera and Alma (Ray) Guerra both of Falfurrias, Texas; brother-in-law, Domingo Garza Jr. of Falfurrias; sister-in-law, Nellie Arellano of Harlingen, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Prayer Service held at 7:00 p.m. Final Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with services to conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
