Born in 1937 on the family ranch in Sejita, Duval County, Texas, Polo is the third of seven siblings born to the late Eulalio and Celedonia Carbajal.
A 1957 graduate of Benavides High School, he married his wife Gloria in 1961 and settled in Falfurrias shortly after. Polo secured a job with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the 1960s and proudly served Brooks County and Jim Hogg County under the organization’s Pharr District before retiring in 1998.
Always quick-witted, Polo always enjoyed a good joke and instilled a good sense of humor in each of his five children. He loved working on the family ranch and tending to cattle and was dedicated to many beloved pets over the years. He was also an avid sports fan and loved supporting the former Houston Oilers, Texas Longhorns, and the Houston Texans.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eulalio and Celedonia Carbajal, and his sister Maria Pomposa (Federico) Garza.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Narvaez) Carbajal of Falfurrias, his son Eddie (Tracie) Carbajal of Edinburg, daughters Zelda (Arnulfo) Guerra of Falfurrias, Della (Philip) Rusher of Calallen, and Aliza (Gabriel) Carabajal of Beeville, and his son, Marco Carbajal, of Austin, Texas. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives.
A private celebration of life for immediate family will be held at a later date.
