Aurelio “Beto” Alberto Avila, 81, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2022. He was born on January 30, 1941, in Hebbronville, Texas, to Aurelio and Idolina Avila. Beto was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved hunting at the family ranch, “Loma Blanca,” and looking for artifacts like arrowheads. He spent most of his days visiting with family and friends throughout the community. Beto was a stranger to no one and found great purpose in serving others; for this reason, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio and Idolina Avila; brother, Manuel Avila; sister, Maria Luisa Cantu; Father in Law, Chevo Cantu; Mother in Law, Lupe Cantu; Sister in Law, Lesbia Cantu; Nephews, Jaime “Jimmy” Avila, Ynocencio “Steven” Avila, Jonathan Avila, and Manuel Avila Jr.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Maria DeLourdes “Mary Lou” Avila, and his only son Aurelio “Beto” (Erica) Avila Jr.; Brothers, Ynocencio(Norma) Avila, Alonzo Avila; Sisters, Idolina (Amando) Reyes, Mercedes (Bobby) Ramos, Consuelo “Chelo” (Jorge) Herrera; and grandpa’s pride and joy; Alberto “Andres” Avila, Ademar Avila, and Aidan Avila.
Pallbearers will be Aurelio “Beto” Avila Jr., Alberto “Andres” Avila,Ynocencio Avila, Michael Avila, Mario Gonzalez, Ken Dunkum, Jorge Herrera Jr., and Marcos Herrera Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ademar Avila, Aiden Avila, Johnny Cantu, Jorge L. Herrera, Amando Reyes, Bobby Ramos, Arnulfo Benavides Jr., Francisco Argueta, Tony Salinas, Gilberto Guerra, Roldan Montalvo, Ramiro Garza, Reymundo Flores, Mike Gonzalez, Juan Jose Jauregue and Ademar “AD” Garza.
As a precaution, the family is requesting that all visitors please wear masks throughout the services.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 with Rosary to be prayed at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will be at the Greenhill Cemetery.
