Christelia Arevalo entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 5, 2022 at her residence in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 63. She was born on November 11, 1959 to Domingo Jimenez, Sr. and Maria Arguelles Jimenez in Amherst, Texas. She double majored with her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University in Kingsville and continued her education to receive her Master’s Degree, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Christelia dedicated over 27 years of service to Brooks County in various capacities and for the past 17 years was the Chief Probation Officer. Chris was devoted to her faith and she loved to garden, cook and sew as often as she could.
Her children and grandchildren were her entire world. She volunteered many hours for different organizations her children were involved in. Chris was an independent, strong willed, loving person who had great patience and was soft spoken but firm when needed. Her children will remember her for the great listener and provider she was. Her unconditional love, kindness and generosity will forever be cherished.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ofelia Lopez and niece, Mary Alice Jimenez.
She is survived by her three sons, Jose V. (Cristina) Rivera of Premont, Texas, Daniel Ariel (Alexandria Garcia) Arevalo of Corpus Christi, Texas and Marco Arevalo of Kingsville, Texas; daughter, Monica Rivera of Denison, Texas; five brothers, Rodolfo Jimenez of San Antonio, Texas, Jose (Maritza) Jimenez of Houston, Texas, Dany Jimenez of Beeville, Texas, Domingo (Irene) Jimenez, Jr. and David Jimenez both of Falfurrias; six sisters, Elena (Benito) Gonzalez of Falfurrias, Diana (Isidro) Vela of Falfurrias, Angelica (Antonio) Trevino and Maria Trevino both of Rosenberg, Texas, Eva (Johnny Cruz) Gutierrez of Richmond, Texas and Ofilia Chavera of Falfurrias; eight grandchildren, Dana K. Syler, James D. Syler, Santiago DeLeon, Saida DeLeon, Zak M. Syler, Austyn J. Syler, Jayce R. Rivera and Zara J. Arevalo and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joey Guerra, Juan Lopez, Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Danny Vela, Carlos Hernandez and Brian Villarreal.
Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. and services will conclude with Burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
