Clarence John “CJ” Pool, a true cowboy and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home in Falfurrias, Texas. He was a deeply family-oriented and God-fearing man whose presence, wisdom, and strength touched the lives of many.
Born on November 24, 1928, in Benjamin, Texas, CJ was the son of Clarence John Pool and Katie Bell Newsom Pool. From his earliest days, he possessed a fearless and adventurous spirit. In his younger years, he made a name for himself as a successful bronc rider—a testament to the courage, determination, and grit that would define his life.
CJ spent many years as a dedicated and hardworking oilfield worker, where he was respected by his peers for his sharp instincts, bold nature, and independent decision-making. His adventurous spirit and willingness to take on new challenges led him into many interesting endeavors throughout his life.
Beyond his work in the oilfield, one of CJ’s deepest passions was the land and livestock. A master cattleman and horseman, CJ served as a breeding manager and trainer for a prominent company out of Cuba, earning recognition both locally and internationally. He took immense pride in his knowledge of genetics and left behind a legacy as a highly skilled and respected breeder and trainer.
While his accomplishments on the ranch and in the oilfield were many, CJ’s greatest pride was always his family. Beneath his rugged cowboy exterior was a heart of gold. He was a man who loved deeply, lived boldly, and cherished the people he called family.
CJ was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence John Pool and Katie Bell Newsom Pool; his beloved sons, Roy Pool and Donovan Pool; and his brother, Jack Pool.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 46 years, Anita Pool of Falfurrias; his children, Adriana Solis of Premont, Texas; Troy Pool of Bishop, Texas; Madonna Pool; Rini Pool of Falfurrias; and Pamela Pool.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mayra Solis, Windy Pool, Melody Pool, Philip Dangelwicz, Peter Dangelwicz, Janine Peluffo, Cassandra Trowbridge, Ridge Pool, Noah Pool, Tristan Pool, Klarissa Fernandez, Dianna Prevella, Melissa Martinez, Christina Ball, and Tommy Denny, along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who carry his legacy forward.
CJ will be remembered not only for the life he built, but for the wisdom he shared, the generosity he showed, the strength he carried, and the love he had for his family. His cowboy spirit, stories, lessons, and unmistakable presence will live on in the generations who follow him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias, Texas, with a chapel service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, CJ will be laid to rest on the land he loved, at the Pool Ranch- 335 County Road 419 in Premont.
