He was a rancher all his life.
Cruz is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ercilia G. Vallejo; siblings, Reynaldo Vallejo, Roberto Vallejo, Rejelso Vallejo, Adela Espinosa, America Figueroa, Anita Baez and Reyes Vallejo.
He leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be treasured by his children, Virginia (Jose) Franco of Corpus Christi, Texas, Norma (Gabriel Jimenez) Vallejo of Realitos, Texas and Jose Cruz Vallejo Jr. of Realitos, Texas; siblings, Amando Vallejo of Realitos, Texas and Angela Davila of Corpus Christi, Texas; 4 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
