Daniel G. Garza Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Edinburg, Texas, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 8, 1940, in Falfurrias, Texas, to Daniel R. Garza Sr. and Eugenia G. Garza, Daniel dedicated his life to farming and ranching with unwavering commitment, hard work, and pride. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Aurora Zamora, and together they built a beautiful life, raising their two daughters, Sylvia and Cynthia.
Daniel was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and proud great-grandfather. His greatest joy was his family, and he led by example through his humbleness, compassion, and deep respect for others. The values he instilled in his children and grandchildren will continue to guide them for generations to come. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, and the unconditional love he shared with those blessed to know him.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of over 64 years, Aurora Zamora Garza of Falfurrias; daughters, Sylvia Garza and Cynthia (Romeo) Ozuna both of Falfurrias; granddaughters, Victoria (Israel) Flores of Rio Grande City, Texas and Olivia Ozuna of Corpus Christi, Texas; great-grandson, Lucas Arian Flores; and many extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Vicente Cantu, Jaime Carrales, Jason Diaz, Romeo Ozuna, Mark Perez, and Narciso Zamora. Honorary Pallbearers are Eduardo Garza and Romulo Garza.
Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Anne Catholic Church in San Manuel, Texas with Visitation held from 9:20 a.m. – 9:50 a.m. Burial will follow at El Rucio Cemetery in San Manuel.
