

Dora Cantu-Garcia, age 99, of Kingsville, Texas went peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on July 9, 2021. Dora was born August 26, 1921 in Tienditas, Texas to Toribio Cantu and Isabel Garcia-Cantu. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Dora married Luciano Garcia in 1941 and established residence in Kingsville, Texas where they would raise their family.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; brothers, Noe, Louis, Humberto, Toribio and Homero Cantu and great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Alexandra Ramirez.
Left to cherish the fond memories of her rich and vibrant life are her five children; Homero Garcia (Peggy) of Kingsville, Maria "Pique" Ramirez (Tomas) of Hebbronville, Texas, Luciano Garcia, Jr. (Esperanza) of Edinburg, Texas, Mario Garcia of Kingsville, and Phillip Garcia (Mia) of Brownsville, Texas. She was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings include, Leonila Rubio, Olga Elizondo, Esther Hinojosa and Nelda Colmenero and special friend, Vicki Wilson.
She was a dedicated wife and mother, working diligently in various retail stores not retiring from secular work until the rich age of 90. She was also an active member of Saint Martin’s Catholic Church in Kingsville. Her resilience and vigor stemmed from the everyday pleasures of life such as when she and her siblings utilized the family horse as transportation to and from school. She often spoke fondly of life experiences that instilled in her values of hard work, intrepidness and resiliency as she worked on the family dairy farm and fields. The outstanding success of all her children is a testament to the depth of her character. Dora touched the lives of so many and as the sun set on her precious life she will be dearly missed by all.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. at Turcotte Piper Mortuary, followed by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Martin’s Catholic Church. Burial will conclude at the New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville, Texas.
