Elena Villa entered eternal rest on Monday, August 3, 2026, at her residence in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 81. She was born August 30, 1944, to Gilberto Villa and Bessie Williams in Falfurrias, Texas.
She was a devoted mother who loved her family with all her heart. Full of life, laughter, and endless energy, she had a vibrant personality that could light up any room. She was known for being refreshingly honest and never afraid to speak her mind, a quality that made her genuine and unforgettable.
She loved making people laugh and was always the family jokester, bringing smiles to those around her with her quick wit and playful sense of humor. She also enjoyed the excitement of trips to Las Vegas and Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino, where she loved trying her luck and making memories with family and friends.
Her love, laughter, strength, and unique spirit will be deeply missed, but they will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
Elena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonel Barrera Jr.; and her son, Ricardo Rene Barrera.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Servando) Serna of Laredo, Texas, Leonel Felipe (Sarita) Barrera of San Antonio, Texas, Veronica Barrera (Eduardo) Guerrero of San Antonio, and Elena Barrera of San Antonio; life companion, Pedro S. Contreras of San Antonio; sisters, Dolores (Gilbert) Mireles of Corpus Christi, TX. and Carmela (Israel) Trevino of Falfurrias, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many extended family members.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. A second Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Services will conclude with Burial at Falfurrias Burial Park.
