

He was born September 17, 1933, in Benavides, Texas, a son to Eloy & Lucinda Barrera. Eloy was married to Raquel G. Barrera.
Eloy is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Antonia Barrera & Lucinda (Leonel) Villarreal, niece Ludin (Salvador) Chapa, nephews Leonel (Alicia) Villarreal, Lisandro (Lupita) Villarreal.
In his early years Eloy worked as a ranch hand at various ranches throughout south Texas. He then proceeded to work for Wright Materials for well over 30 years. Eloy was also elected and served as a Jim Hogg County Constable in Precinct one for over 20 years. His last employment was with Jim Hogg County Independent School District where he worked as a night security guard for all campuses; Eloy recently retired having served at JHCISD for over 22 years. Eloy was a hard, dedicated worker and enjoyed the company of all who worked with him. He will always be remembered for always lending a helping hand.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his 2 children, son Marco A. Barrera of Floresville, TX, daughter Mariela B. (Joe) Salinas of Hebbronville, nephew Lamar (Sylvia) Villarreal of Falfurrias, grandchildren Daniel (Marissa) Barrera, David Salinas, Deandra (Estevan) Carreon, Gary Salinas, many great grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Barrera, David Salinas, Salvador Chapa, Salvador Chapa Jr., Lamar Villarreal, and Mauricio Villarreal. Honorary pallbearers will be Estevan & Deandra S. Carreon and Gary Salinas.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Services will conclude with the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
