Evelia Ruelas Barrera

Evelia Ruelas Barrera, 92, passed away Friday July 23, 2010 at her residence in Falfurrias, TX. Mrs. Barrera was born on July 24, 1917 to Jose Virgilio Ruelas and Arcadia Villarreal Ruelas in La Primavera Ranch in Encino, TX. She was a homemaker and a long time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband musician Reynaldo Barrera, son Jesus “Chuy” Barrera, brother Guadalupe Ruelas and sisters Evangelina Ruelas, Calixta R. Perez and Aminta Ruelas.

Mrs. Barrera is survived by her two daughters Irma B. (Alejandro) Salas and Elvaray B. (Lauro) Silvas all of Falfurrias, TX, brother Jose V. Ruelas, Jr. of Encino, TX, two sisters Ninfa R. (Roberto) Perez and Arcadia R. (Tomas) Flores all of Port Lavaca, TX, 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to provider of more than 8 years Josefa Vasquez, Dr. Lozano and Staff, Palm Valley Health Care, APC, Odyssey Hospice Care, Deacon Costley and nurses Don Allen, Julie Dominguez and Melinda Almendarez.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias, TX.

Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias, TX.

Interment will follow at the Don Pedrito Jaramillo Cemetery in Falfurrias, TX.
