Federico G. Garza, beloved son, father, twice-widowed husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather, born on the 14th of November 1932, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, on the 25th of December 2025, in Killeen, Texas.
Federico lived a long and happy life devoted to his faith and family. He dedicated his life to caring for his parents, Norberto and Dominga Garcia Garza.
Federico was preceded in death by his spouse of 42 years Maria Pomposa Carbajal, his oldest son Federico Garza Jr., and his spouse of 17 years Sarah Arredondo, as well as his siblings, Maria Hinojosa, Guadalupe Garza, and Olivia Martinez.
Survivors for the Garza Family include son, Omar Garza & his wife Julie; daughter, Veronica Garza; siblings, Margarita Soliz, Berta Chapa, Luis Garza, and Rosa Garza Trevino; and grandchildren, Joshua Garza & wife Tamaysha, Sara Garza, and Roman Garza & wife Diana and great-grandchildren Natalia Garza, and Roman Garza.
Survivors for the Arredondo family include: Erica (Israel) Ramirez, Rene (Susie) Arredondo, Stacie Trevino, Phillip Sanchez, Zara (Adrian) Natividad, Jessie (Alex) Garcia, Adrian Valerio, Morgyn Ramirez, Kaycee Trevino, Kaylee Trevino, Sara Diane Carrillo (Raul Cruz), Jacob Trevino, Daniel Trevino, Libbey Arredondo, Debbie (Blas) Castillo, and Janie (Luis) Davila.
Federico’s early life on El Sordo cattle ranch, where his parents, grandparents, and uncles worked together shaped him into the man he would become. From the young age of seven, he learned the meaning of hard work, perseverance, danger, and loss. These early experiences forged a man defined by determination, endurance, humility, and deep faith.
Federico’s life was filled with tough jobs, service, and accomplishment. Over the years, Federico worked as a soldier, oil rigger, car salesman, business owner, school board member, and served 12 years as a Jim Hogg County Commissioner.
Federico instilled strong values and a solid work ethic in his children, always striving to help them succeed and build better futures. He was a kind and loving father, ever ready with guidance, prayer, and encouragement. His Catholic faith was unwavering; he trusted in God’s will, never dwelling on the past, believing instead in living fully in the present and never taking a single day for granted.
In 2020, Federico moved to Killeen, Texas, to live with his daughter Veronica and to be closer to his son Omar in Marble Falls, Texas. The final years of his life were filled with comfort, love, and joy. The Garza & Arredondo families will forever treasure the precious memories shared with him during his lifetime.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will be at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
