Florinda D. DeLeon, 74, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at VBMC hospital in Harlingen,Texas. She was born on August 20, 1948 to Manuel Davila, Sr. and Minerva Pena in Laredo, Texas.
A prominent member of her community, Florinda dedicated many years of her life to helping others in medical need. It was her true calling and she did it with great passion. She and her late husband, Daniel DeLeon, Jr., opened Hebbronville’s first ambulance service, Quality Care Ambulance Service, and provided her community exceptional medical care for more than 25 years. She influenced many to be a part of their business as she began teaching EMT courses, and later became a licensed paramedic. She was always a text or phone call away if you needed medical advice or assistance, she was the Hebbronville Longhorns #1 supporter and fan, and she truly was a “modern day superhero” to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, forever respected and remembered by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daniel DeLeon and siblings, Manuel Davila, Jr. and Abraham Pena.
Her memories will be treasured forever by her daughters, Josie (Rick) Sellers of Austin, Texas and Barbara (Rene) Villalpando of Harlingen; siblings, Alfonso (Alma) Ramirez, Jr. of Hebbronville, Texas, Genaro Alvarado, Jr. of Rohnert Park, California, Hector Rene (Sandra) Alvarado of Union City, California, Elma Diana Alvarado of Laredo and Efrain (Lilia) Pena, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob Sellers; numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives.
Pallbearers will be Rene Alvarado, Rene Villalpando, Rick Sellers, Jacob Sellers, Andrew Schell and Paul Arredondo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alfonso Ramirez, Jr., Allan Besse and Efrain Pena Jr.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
