Our beloved daughter, Genesis Nevaeh Johnson, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in Falfurrias, Texas. She was born on September 27, 2018 to Michael Andrew Johnson and Cynthia Marie Zapata in Kingsville, Texas. Although Genesis was only four years old, she was already incredible. She had a bright smile that would light up any room and a contagious laugh.
Her favorite colors were purple and pink and she was terrified of roosters. She was the definition of a daddy’s girl and would love to hide to surprise him when he came home from work. She was her mom’s world and her grandparent’s pride and joy. Genesis loved to dance, sing and watch Youtube videos. She was always bickering with her sisters just to make sure they knew she was the boss. Her family will miss her tremendously and she will always be remembered for her energetic characteristics.
Genesis was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Donato P. Johnson, Amalia Johnson and Leopoldo Vasquez, Jr. and her maternal great-grandparents, Mario Zapata and Maria Dolores Zapata.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her parents, Michael Johnson and Cynthia Zapata both of Falfurrias; three sisters, Janissa Garza, Emory Garza and Destiny Garcia all of Falfurrias; paternal grandparents, Brenda (Cullen) McGilbra of Goliad, Texas and Leopoldo (Jezebel Flores) Vasquez, III of Falfurrias; maternal grandparents, Mario (Sally Pulido) Zapata of Falfurrias and Angelina (Leonel) Palacios of Falfurrias; paternal grandmother, Marina (Gustavo) Trevino; paternal great-grandmother, Yolanda Vasquez; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Ruiz; uncles, Carlos Vasquez, Trevian McGilbra, Aiden Vasquez, Leopoldo Vasquez, IV and Joseph Zapata; aunts, Jesielah McGilbra, Amaliah McGilbra, Dana Rosas and Patricia Mesa and numerous extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Genesis’ uncles, Joseph, Carlos, Trevian and Aiden.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Los Olmos Cemetery in Falfurrias.
In lieu of flowers, donations for Genesis can be made to the funeral home.
To My Beautiful Granddaughter Genesis,
Grandma Brenda loves you more than I can ever get a chance to show you. I have loved you from the moment I was told we were expecting you and even more the day I saw you come into this world. I can't explain the hurt my soul is feeling for you and the thought that I will never be able to physically hold you again or hear your little voice and that beautiful laugh of yours. But in all that hurt, I find comfort in knowing that you are home now, rejoicing with our Lord and probably bossing all the other angels around. I know there was no waiting; your castle was ready for you, for you were an angel on earth that our Lord blessed us with. No matter how long we had with you amongst us, you are a blessing we will always hold dear to our souls. You are now home, and someday when our Lord calls us home, we will be with you again. Grandma Brenda loves you, baby girl, and will be waiting for more of your visits, even if they are only in my dreams.
