Gerarda “Reyna” Martinez has peacefully gone home to the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the remarkable age of 107, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 22, 1919, to Pedro Galindo and Bernarda Vela Galindo in Falfurrias, TX. She was a sister, loving wife, beloved and cherished mother, adored grandmother, proud great-grandmother, and blessed great-great-grandmother who lived a beautiful life.
Reyna was the heart of our family—a woman whose life was defined by unwavering faith, unconditional love, and extraordinary selflessness. She was a devoted Catholic who placed God at the center of everything she did. Her faith was not only spoken but lived daily through prayer, kindness, humility, and service to others.
To know Reyna was to know genuine love. She gave freely of herself without ever expecting anything in return. Whether offering a warm meal, a listening ear, words of encouragement, or quiet acts of generosity, she made everyone around her feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart left an enduring impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As a mother, she nurtured her family with patience, wisdom, and endless devotion. As a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she became the foundation upon which generations built their lives. She celebrated life’s joys, carried others through difficult times, and created countless cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Her legacy lives on not only through the many lives she helped shape but also through the values she instilled: faith, humility, generosity, forgiveness, and love.
Reyna is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Bernarda Galindo; husband, Santos Daniel Martinez; brothers, Leonel Galindo and Gustavo Galindo.
She leaves behind many cherished memories with her sons, Santos Rene (Margarita) Martinez of Robstown, TX, and Jose Roel (Alicia) Martinez of Falfurrias, TX; her daughters, Dalia M. (Sam +) Guzman of Corpus Christi, TX, Elvia (Wesley) Cox of San Antonio, TX, Lesvia M. (Richard) Garza of McAllen, TX, and Delma M. Cantu of Falfurrias, TX; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
While our world feels emptier without her, we are infinitely blessed by the century of love she gifted us. A life well-lived, deeply loved, and now peacefully at rest.
