Gian Rene Garza, or “Giggers”, as most of his family and close friends knew him, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at his residence in Falfurrias, Texas surrounded by his family. He was born on April 4, 1984 to Hector Garza, Sr. and Sandra Silvas in Falfurrias, Texas.
Gian graduated from Falfurrias High School in 2002 and began attending classes at Coastal Bend College shortly after. He met his wife, Selina Gutierrez of Kingsville and they married in June of 2008. Gian furthered his education at Texas A&M University – Kingsville where he earn his Bachelor’s degree in 2013. Gian and Selina had two sons, Gian “LG” Garza, II and Meliton J. Garza.
He was previously working as a System Engineer for IBA Proton Therapy of Belgium and was a former Accelerator Technician at Cyclotron Institute –Texas A&M University in College Station. Gian had an intelligent mind and was able to use his talents for causes he was passionate about. This gave him the opportunity to travel to many places and countries. His wife and children were able to share in these experiences and create many memories that they can cherish for their lifetime.
Gian had a smile that could light up a room and a personality that shined bright. His friendship was one of a kind. He was very dedicated to his career and helping others. He treasured spending time with his family and friends and his two boys were his world. He was a great father. Hunting, barbequing, and singing karaoke were just some of the many things he really enjoyed. He loved to fix anything he could lay his hands on and he enjoyed working on cars. He was very adventurous and loved being outdoors, especially for fast motorcycle drives.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Silvas; paternal grandparents, Homero and Herlinda Garza; maternal grandparents; Alfredo and Teresa Alegria Silvas and uncles, Homero Garza, Jr. and Alfredo Silvas, Jr.
He leaves behind to remember his memories his wife, Selina Gutierrez Garza; two sons, Gian “LG” Rene Garza, II and Meliton Jesus Garza all of Falfurrias; father, Hector Garza of Falfurrias; siblings, Belinda Garza of Dallas, Hector (Nora Lee) Garza, Jr. of Waco, Texas, River Garza of Austin, Texas, Dillon M. Garza of Falfurrias, Cassandra M. Garza and Hailey Garza both of Falfurrias; parents-in-law, Jesse and Rosalinda of Ricardo, Texas; 14 nieces and nephews; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, extended family members, friends and previous co-workers.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Silvas, Larry Silvas, Tommy Silvas, Paul Silvas, Jr., Eric Silvas, Robert Rosales and Orlando Vasquez.
Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Services will conclude with Burial at the Riviera Cemetery in Riviera, Texas.
