

Gilberto G. Gonzalez, Jr. passed away at his home in Falfurrias, Texas on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the age of 76. He was born on July 11, 1941 to Gilberto Gonzalez, Sr. and Olivia Galindo Gonzalez in Premont, Texas at the Tijerina Ranch.
Since day one he has been and stayed a true cowboy and rancher. In his earlier days he enjoyed being a bull rider and then continued to work his entire life as a rancher and a horse trainer. He dedicated many years to the Armstrong Cattle Company and the Jones Ranch. He will always be remembered as a living legend and one of the last true cowboys as he is featured in the Kerrville, Texas museum as well as written about in a book called The Faces of South Texas.
Gilberto is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roberto Casanova and great-grandson, John Luke Villarreal.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Gonzalez of Falfurrias; three sons, Ysidro Samuel Gonzalez, Samuel Garza, Jr. and Marcario Suarez; four daughters, Maria Christina (Samuel) Garza, Maria Teresa (Margarita) Suarez, Lizette Yvonne Gonzalez and Olivia Nicole Davila; brother, Antonio (Lucia) Gonzalez all of Falfurrias; sister-in-law that loved him very much, Andrea Saenz of Premont, Texas; three grandchildren, April Rose Garza, Cody Suarez and Dakota Suarez; six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Gonzalez Family Ranch Cemetery on County Road 410 in Falfurrias.
