Ila Gene DeSpain entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at her residence in Damon, Texas at the age of 67. She was born on January 19, 1951 to Willard Crabb and Ruth Pate Crabb in Liberty, Texas. Ila Gene was a Home Economics and Special Education Teacher for Bruni ISD for over 36 years until her retirement. She was a world traveler who loved quilting and studying genealogy in her spare time.
Ila Gene was reunited in Heaven with her parents; son, Chester Connelly DeSpain, III; daughter, Samantha DeSpain and husband, Chester C. DeSpain, II.
She leaves behind to cherish the many wonderful memories her sister, Marion (Joel) Hall of Damon; niece, Kathleen Franke of Damon; grandnephew, Austin Smith of Damon; grandniece, D.D. Blomstrom of Austin, Texas and numerous cousins and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Mauricio Lopez, Grant Lowe, Chris Vasquez, Andrew Munoz, Tom DeSpain, Mark Herrera, Phillip Ward and Jack Cherry.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville. Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with burial to follow at the Greenhill Cemetery in Jim Hogg County.
