Irma dedicated over 20 years of her life working with BCISD as a cafeteria worker and enjoyed being able to be around her children as they were in school. In her personal life, Irma had a passion for cooking and took great joy in sharing meals with friends and family.
She was welcomed into Heaven by the Lord and reunited with her beloved parents; husband, Adolio Vargas; children, Raquel Rodriguez, Imelda Bennet and Jose Benito Ortiz; grandson, Rolando “RJ” Menchaca; and all her siblings, Melchor Cantu, Gaspar Cantu, Jose Maria Cantu, and Hilda Carrasco.
Irma is survived by her son, Lt. Ismael “Milo” (Olga) Ortiz [USCG, RET] of Falfurrias; daughters, Nori Flores of Kerman, CA and Melba Melissa (Ryan) Jones of Prescott, AZ; 12 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Rosary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
