Ismael “Milo” Gonzalez entered his heavenly home on Monday, March 7, 2022 at a nursing home in Alice, Texas at the age of 82. He was born on July 10, 1939 to Herminia “Minnie” Gonzalez in Premont, Texas. He worked different odd jobs throughout his life but one he was very proud of was when he worked for the Bishop Railroad Depot with Mr. Marcus Johnson, whom he loved and looked up to. Milo was always a great provider for his great-grandmother who raised him into young adulthood, Juanita Alvarez and his niece, Juaquina “Jackie” Mendez. He was also very resourceful in hard times like covering the walls of their little home with cardboard just to make sure to keep the cold out.
He was a member of the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church of Premont and loved helping his friends during their political campaigns. Milo was also very patriotic and loved to display the American flag on his property. He spent a lot of time making sure his yard looked nice and neat. He loved having his friends over his house for early morning coffee and talks. He enjoyed having phone conversations with his friends and family. Milo had many friends and he loved and cherished the times he spent with them.
Milo will always be missed and his memories will stay in his family’s hearts forever.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie; his great-grandmother, Ama Juanita and his great-nephew, Rene Ramos.
He is survived by his very close niece and caretaker, Juaquina “Jackie” Mendez of Ricardo, Texas and many nieces, nephews and extended family members whom he was raised with in Bishop, Texas and Premont.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Garza, Tony Lira, Rudy Palacios, David Ramirez, Ruben Ramos and David Ruiz.
Special gratitude is expressed to all his friends that were there for him and his providers including, Kathy and Luis, Edna Munoz, Nelda, Saldivar Home Health and Del Cielo Home Health. Thank you to everyone who attends the services and for your prayers. God Bless everyone.
A Rosary will be prayed at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont with services to conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery.
