Israel G. Carrasco entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 1, 2023 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 84. He was born on October 8, 1938 to Estanislado Carrasco and Carolina Garcia Carrasco in Premont, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a passion for life that will forever be cherished. Israel lived a life rich in experiences and filled with an unwavering love for his family, friends, and the many pursuits that brought him joy. He was a man of many talents and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
For many years, he worked tirelessly as a dedicated truck driver for Southern Pacific Transport, traveling countless miles to ensure goods reached their destinations safely and on time. He was known for his strong work ethic and reliability, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life.
As an X-ray delivery courier, Israel played an essential role in the healthcare industry, ensuring that crucial medical images reached their destinations promptly. His commitment to his job was unwavering, and his dedication to helping others extended far beyond the workplace.
After retirement, Israel worked for Oso Fishing Pier. Israel had a love for fishing and was known by many as, "The King of Drum Fishermen". He had a deep love for the great outdoors, and his hands were always busy, whether detailing vehicles to perfection or nurturing his thriving garden. His green thumb was legendary, and the fruits of his labor brought joy and sustenance to those around him.
When not working, Israel found solace and fulfillment on his ranch, where he tended to his beloved horses with the utmost care. In his younger years he trained horses. His connection with these magnificent creatures was truly special, and his ranch was a place of tranquility and beauty that he shared with his family and friends.
What truly defined Israel was his selflessness. He had a heart of gold and a willingness to help others, even when not asked. His acts of kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Israel was preceded in death by his parents; Estanislado & Carolina Carrasco; his wife, Elena Zavala Carrasco; brothers, Crecencio, Herberto Sr., Emede and Carlos Carrasco; sisters-in-law, Josefina Carrasco and Angelita Carrasco and brother-in-law, Paul Elizarraraz.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, David Carrasco of Corpus Christi and Israel (Melinda) Carrasco, Jr. of Banquete, Texas; daughters, Belinda Carrasco and Martha (Roger) Valderrama both of Corpus Christi; brother, Orence Carrasco of Corpus Christi; sisters, Esperanza Elizarraraz of Dallas, Texas, Gloria (Al) Ezzo of Torrance, California, Lucila (Humberto) Perez of Corpus Christi and Sylvia (David) Madrid of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; grandchildren, Marcus Valderrama, Christopher (Brittany) Lopez, Raquel (Wesley) Honadel and Isabella Carrasco (Matt Torres), numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Valderrama, Christopher Lopez, Raquel Honadel, Isabella Carrasco, Alyssa Carrasco and Justin Valderrama.
Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible life Israel Carrasco lived and the profound impact he had on all of us. He will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of strength, kindness, and unwavering love.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, September 8, 2023 with a Funeral Service at 10:00 am at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias, Texas. Services will conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery.
