J. Wesley Jacobs entered into the Kingdom of the Lord on Sunday night, May 21, 2017 at his home in Falfurrias, Texas surrounded by his loving wife, Rosie and his faithful dog Benny. Wesley was born on December 4, 1940 to John G. Jacobs, Jr. and Ruby Elizabeth Fulbright Jacobs in Three Rivers, Texas on the Sevinky Ranch. Wesley proudly served in the United States Navy post the Korean War and was a San Antonio Police Officer. He then joined the United States Border Patrol Agency in Chula Vista, California and later moved to Falfurrias, Texas where he continued as a Border Patrol Agent and retired as Patrol Agent in Charge in Hebbronville Texas after 32 years.
Wesley was a huge part of the Falfurrias community as he served in many organizations throughout his life. Welsey served as the Mayor of Falfurrias for two terms as well as a City Council Alderman. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Retired Border Patrol Officers, the VFW of Falfurrias, Heritage Museum Organization and the Falfurrias Rotary Club. Wesley was also a Shriner and a Mason. Wesley was deeply devoted to his family. He was a caring and dedicated uncle and devoted friend to many. He will forever be remembered as a man of many trades, as he loved to do as many things as possible around the house from electrical to plumbing to carpentry and yard work. He had a passion for genealogy and reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Elva Jacobs.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Jacobs of Falfurrias; brother, Gerald Darwin (Peggy Ann) Jacobs of Cleburne, Texas; a young lady who the Jacobs embrace like a daughter, Sammy Jo Garza of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Sylvia de La Garza of San Antonio, Texas and Rachel Gutierrez of Kingsville, Texas; nieces and nephews, Jay (Carleigh) Jacobs, Alan (Laura) Gutierrez, Albert De La Garza, Sedre (Sonia) Gutierrez,Jaime (Charlie) Burt, Danna (Donald) Burt, Brian (Melissa) Burt, Kimberly Burt, Jessica (Dave) Cagle, Matthew Burt, great nieces and nephews Adriel Gutierrez, Micaela Gutierrez, Anselin Gutierrez and great niece and Goddaughter, Miranda A. Gutierrez; two dogs, Benny and Lady and numerous extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jay Jacobs, Albert de La Garza, Alan Gutierrez, Sedre Gutierrez, Doug Edwards and Fred Cordova. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adriel Gutierrez and Micaela Guterierrez.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
