Jeannie R. McKeller

Jeannie Rouse McKeller, 71, of Premont, Texas passed away on January 6, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving children. Jeannie fought a long and courageous battle with multiple health issues and always handled the challenges with dignity and grace.

Jeannie was born on October 29, 1951, in Freer, Texas to Jesse and Jeanette Rouse. After moving to Falfurrias, Texas, she graduated from Falfurrias High School in 1970. She married Kenneth W. McKeller on July 3, 1970. Together they raised two loving and successful children who cared for her in her final years.

She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds and other colorful birds that visited her feeders, laughing at the antics of her cats, and reminiscing about family memories. Her pride and joy were her two children whom she often said, “turned out pretty good.”

Jeannie is survived by her children, Misty Dawn McKeller Benavides (Jerry) and Dr. Morgan Rouse McKeller. She is also survived by her brother Jack Rouse (Charmelle) and her sister Julie Visel (Greg), her stepbrothers Jim Scallorn (Cindy) and Robert Scallorn, and her sisters-in-law, Helen Pons, Barbara Pearson (Bob) and Joyce Embry (Rod), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth W. McKeller, her parents Jesse and Jeanette Rouse, her stepmother Jackie Rouse and stepbrother John Scallorn.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Jose M. Lozano and staff for their many years of care and friendship.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Premont Burial Park in Premont.
