

John Richard “Dick” Holbein, 82, was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by our Lord, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was born on August 18, 1931 to Reuben Holbein and Dorothy Draper in Laredo, Texas. Dick proudly served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later was a Game Warden and Rancher. All his life, Dick had a love for ranching and all that it entails. Dick was embraced in Heaven by the loving arms of his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mary Cullinan Holbein of Hebbronville; three sons Stephen C. Newman of Hebbronville, Jeffrey S. (Robyn) Holbein of Colorado and John M. Holbein of Hebbronville; two daughters, Nancy H. (Rex) Jeanot of Florida and Katie H. Turner of Hebbronville; six grandchildren, Taylor O. and Paul P. Jeanot, Dylan M. and Trevor R. Holbein, Deron N. Turner and Cortlandt B. Turner-Hobein.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville.
Interment will follow at the Greenhill Cemetery in Jim Hogg County.
Pallbearers will be: Deron and Cortlandt Turner, Dylan and Trevor Holbein, Paul Jeanot, David Calderon, Roy Yeager and Steve Peregoy. Honorary pallbearers are: Frank Armstrong, Clayton Baum, Billy Felton, Buck Hamilton, Chester Burdett, Cotton Pletz, Bill Barfield, Joey Alaniz and Chris Huff.
