Jorge Luis Treviño, 74, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at his residence in Hebbronville, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 9, 1948 to Alfredo Treviño Garza and Leonila Gomez Saenz in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Baldemar Treviño Gomez (Isabel), Francisca Treviño Gomez and Maria del Socorro Treviño Gomez (Roberto).
Jorge leaves behind many fond memories that will be treasured by his wife, Laura Barrera Treviño of Hebbronville; children, Nora Lisa Treviño Escobedo (Alberto) of Rio Grande City, Texas, Norma Treviño Sanchez (Rolando) of San Marcos, Texas and Jorge Luis Treviño, Jr. (Deborah) of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Jose Alberto, II, Norissa Lynn Escobedo, Jose Elias, Jorge Noe, Nicholas Amadeus, Sophia Isabella and Cecilia Rebeca and step-granddaughter, Andrea Garcia.
Jorge came to Hebbronville at a very young age with his father to provide for the family that stayed back in Mexico. He began working at a local construction company building homes and he learned all aspects of the construction industry to be able to develop the best homes and buildings for his clients. When someone would ask Jorge to build their home, they would provide details on how they wanted their home built and Jorge was already seeing the finished product. He included many extra details to the homes by making custom cabinets, additional finishes, extra finishing details, etc.
For a time, Jorge was also very much involved with the Catholic Church and was one of the leaders with the Cursillo movement. He also gave his services in helping make improvements and repairs to Our Lady of Guadalupe and La Inmaculada churches. Most notably, he designed and constructed the stained-glass skylight that covers the alter beneath the main dome at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Later in life, he and his wife, Laura, managed the local airport to provide fuel services for several different planes landing during hunting season and beyond. Together, they also established and ran a very successful food service and catering business, “La Estación BBQ”, providing delicious food for well over 20 years.
Although there are many more examples of his impact in our lives and the community, his most indelible legacy is the family he leaves behind. He instilled in his children and grandchildren core family values of humility, hard work, and most importantly, unconditional love. He will greatly be missed by all that knew him.
Pallbearers will be Jorge Noe Treviño, Nicholas Treviño, Sophia Treviño,Cecilia Treviño, Jose Alberto Escobedo, II, Norissa Escobedo and Jose Elias Sanchez.
