Josefa G. Moreno entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at the nursing home in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 91. She was born on August 27, 1932 to Esteban Garcia, Sr. and San Juanita S. Garcia in Falfurrias, Texas.
Josefa was top of her class in junior high before being asked to discontinue her education in order to help her parents make ends meet. From the age of 14, she dedicated her life to her family and to serving others. She helped raise the majority of her grandchildren, and she also spent countless hours volunteering her time at the nursing home where she helped with bingos and other events.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lisandro G. Moreno; sons, Mario Moreno and Homero Moreno; grandson, Lisandro Mario Moreno; granddaughters, Sami Mendez and Cipriana Moreno and siblings, Esteban Garcia, Jr., Guadalupe Garcia, Ascension Garcia, Francisco Garcia and Juanita G. Tena.
Josefa leaves behind to cherish her memories her sons, Lisandro (Karina) Moreno, Jr. of Laredo, Texas and Julian (Virginia) Moreno of Falfurrias; daughters, Norma (Hector) Villarreal of Falfurrias, Marivel (Orlando) Mendez of Falfurrias and Susana Moreno of Corpus Christi, Texas; sisters, Consuelo Villarreal of Falfurrias and Micaela Valdez of Victoria, Texas; 18 grandchildren, Lisandro Homero Moreno, Gabriel Moreno, Cassandra Moreno, Gianna Cantu, Monica Valdez, Hector Villarreal, Jr., Humberto Villarreal, Homero Villarreal, Saul Hernandez, Skye Mendez, Claudia Lopez, Jessica Lopez, Connie Lopez, Julian Moreno, Jr., Elisa Marie Moreno, Blanca Moreno, John Moreno and Rene Moreno and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Saul Hernandez, Hector Villarreal, Jr., Lisandro Homero Moreno, Gabriel Moreno, Jacob Cross Valdez, Julian Moreno, Jr., Mia Valdez and Skye Mendez.
Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias.
