Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Josefina “Josie” Melo, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 78. She was born on March 19, 1948, in Laredo, Texas, to Dora Gonzalez Stein.
Josie, affectionately known as “Queen” to her family and friends, had a passion for playing bingo and chalupa. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her witty personality, contagious laughter, and unforgettable spirit. Her presence brought joy and laughter to those around her, and she will always be remembered for the love and happiness she shared with her family and friends.
Although our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, her husband, Jose Melo, and her beloved mother, Dora.
Josefina leaves behind her pride and joy, her daughters, Dora Melo and Erika (Ramon) Garza, both of Hebbronville, Texas; her grandchildren, Adriana Guerra, Leo Guerra Jr., and E.J. Diaz; and her great-grandchildren, Adalynn Trevino, Julia Diaz, Daren Guerra, and Aaliyah Landeros.
Pallbearers will be Ramon Garza, E.J. Diaz, Leonel Guerra Jr., Angel Melo, Alfredo Trevino III, and Eddie Landeros Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Ademar (AD) Garza, Ivar Vivanco, and Leonel Guerra.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m., on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville.
