Juan Manuel Chapa entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 30, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 72. He was born on February 2, 1949 to Manuel S. Chapa and Juanita Castillo Chapa in Falfurrias, Texas. Juan worked for several years as a Sheriff’s Deputy and Criminal Investigator in Brooks County alongside three different Sheriffs, Sheriff Ramiro Castellano, Sheriff Ruben Longoria and Sheriff Rey Rodriguez.
Juan was above all else a family man who loved his family and his community of Falfurrias, especially his barrio. He was a man of many talents including songwriting, singer, artist, carpenter, auto repair, and music composer. He sang with the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choir and had a strong faith in the Lord. He had a humorous way about him and was always willing to make jokes to make family and friends laugh.
Juan was reunited in Heaven with his; wife, Teresita Bueno Chapa; son, Damian Chapa; grandson, Angel Damian Chapa; parents; Manuel and Juanita C. Chapa; parents-in-law, Jesus and Maria G. Bueno; brother, Jose Chapa; brother-in-law, Jesus “Chuy” Bueno and sister-in-law, Ludin V. Chapa.
He is survived by his two daughters, Iris C. (Daniel A.) Martinez of Leander, Texas and Illeana C. (Daniel Davila) Lopez of Hebbronville; brothers, Salvador (Nancy) Chapa, Sr. and Richard (Dalia) Chapa both of Texas City, Texas; sister, Gloria (Arnold) Montes of Edinburg, Texas; brother-in-law, Albert (Susie) Bueno of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister-in-law, Tomasita Bueno of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren, Aryssa Ilis Chapa, Samantha Marie Lopez, Dmitriy Carlos Lopez, Ethan Lee Chapa-Tullos, Siri Danielle Martinez and Matthew Eron Martinez; three great-grandchildren, Adaleigh Chapa, Lucero Damian Chapa and Roan Jace Aguilera and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Robert Rene Chapa, Salvador Chapa, Jr., Mario David Chapa, Joe Manuel Chapa, Noel Bueno, David James Chapa and Ricardo David Chapa.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at the Falfurrias Burial Park.
