

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Juan Jose Davila, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who passed away at his home in Rio Bravo, Texas, on September 28, 2025.
He graduated with the class of B'98 and went on to become the youngest Chief of Police, wearing a badge with the utmost honor. He earned the nickname 'Rhyno' from his classmates.
Juan’s passions in life were as vibrant as his spirit. He had a deep love for BBQing and catering, always bringing people together through food, laughter, and shared memories. He also had a special place in his heart for car shows, or he proudly showcase his beloved cars, affectionately known as “Raging Ryhno". His creativity, attention to detail, and pride in his vehicles, reflected who he was - passionate, expressive, and full of life.
Above all, Juan cherished his grandchildren, Aurelio and Skylar Vazquez, beyond measure. Every moment with them was a gift he treasured deeply. His family was the center of his world, and he never missed a chance to show his love, pride, and unwavering support.
Juan was known for his big heart and helping hands. He made it a priority to be there for others offering support, lending a hand, or simply showing up when someone needed him. His generosity and kindness left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Juan is preceded in death by his loving parents, Gustavo and Graciela Davila.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Melanie Davila; his daughter, Kimberly (Aurelio) Vazquez and his son, Juan Jose Davila Jr. both of Laredo, Texas. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Aurelio and Skylar Vazquez; his sister, Velma Davila of Laredo; his brothers, Luis Ruben (Janie) Davila Sr. and Gustavo (Gabriela) Davila Jr., both of Oilton, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Pallbearers will be: Juan Jose Davila Jr., Aurelio Vazquez, Pablo Esquivel, Oscar Gonzalez, Ruben Davila Jr., Justin Davila, Daryl Garcia, and Brandon Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mario Benavides, Isidro Gutierrez, Sammy Lopez, and Pablo Vela.
Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville.
Interment will follow at the Davila Family Cemetery in Oilton, Texas, where Juan will be laid to rest among loved ones.
