Juan Rene Hinojosa entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at a hospital in Alice, Texas at the age of 72. He was born on July 10, 1952 to Juan Hinojosa and Herminia Eva Canales Hinojosa in Laredo, Texas.
He graduated from Atlee Parr High School in Benavides, Texas in 1970, and later received his Bachelor's Degree from Corpus Christi State University.
Juan Rene was a man of many skills and interests. He began his professional career with Union Carbide working at the Benavides plant. He then taught Auto Mechanics at Benavides ISD for many years before returning to the industrial workforce at Dow Chemical - Seadrift Operations. Upon retiring from Dow, he returned to educate the youth of Premont ISD as an Algebra/Math teacher. He spent many summers and weekends truck-driving for Texas Energy Services out of Freer, Texas or freelancing as an auto mechanic.
After retirement, Juan Rene dedicated most of his time to farming and ranching as well as to his yard maintenance business. In his spare time he collected and sold “Grandpa’s Honey” to his loyal customers near and far. Juan Rene was a lifelong learner and never tired in his quest for knowledge. He was the type of person who knew a little bit about everything and spent his down time reading.
Juan Rene has been joyfully reunited in Heaven with his parents.
Left to cherish his memories, endless wisdom and life lessons are his daughter, Alma Denise (Jay) Stacy of Rockport, Texas; son, Juan Rene (Patricia) Hinojosa II of Victoria, Texas; brothers, Saul (Sylvia) Hinojosa of Freer, Texas and Oscar Noel Hinojosa of Corpus Christi, Texas; sister, Delma Eva (Leo) Villarreal of Manor, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ryan Raymond, Rianna (Gabriel) Dueñez, Joey Stacy; Aleynah Hinojosa, Allen Hinojosa, Andrick Hinojosa and Mia Hinojosa; longtime companion, Dora Silguero of Premont, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
A Memorial Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m.
