Juanita Chavera entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her residence in Falfurrias, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born on April 3, 1940, to Alfonso Garcia Sr. and Josefa Perez Garcia in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a wonderful mother who raised her four children with immense love, grace, and dedication, always instilling in them the importance of faith and family.
She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and proudly donned the team’s signature blue, white, and silver colors through her attire and accessories, especially on game days. She had an extensive collection of Cowboys memorabilia and loved cheering on her team.
Juanita also enjoyed watching game shows and soap operas, but most of all, she treasured spending time with her family at gatherings and barbecues. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, creating special memories that they will carry in their hearts and cherish forever.
Juanita was reunited in Heaven with her parents; husband, Gilberto Chavera; and brothers, Felipe Garcia, Alfonso Garcia Jr., and Abel Garcia.
She is survived by her daughter, Albessa Gonzalez of Falfurrias; sons, Rodolfo (Milinda) Gonzalez Jr. and Ruben (Emily) Gonzalez both of Bandera, Texas, and Richard (Marianne) Gonzalez of Reno, Nevada; brother, Rosendo (Oralia) Garcia of Falfurrias; sisters, Rosa Garza and Sulema Narvaez both of Falfurrias, and Josie (Israel) Barrera of Kingsville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Luciano Garza Jr., Jon D. Garza, Alex Gonzalez, Brandon Gonzalez, Steven Telles, Javier D. Garza, Jon D. Garza Jr., and Joe D. Garza. Honorary Pallbearers are Jose Manuel Garcia and Jose Miguel Garcia.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and services will conclude with Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
