Maria Luisa Mendez was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at a hospital in Laredo, Texas at the age of 76. She was born on March 22, 1940 to Rumaldo Serna and Wenceslada Garcia Serna in Hebbronville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonel Mendez; brothers, Enemorio, Adan, Eliborio and Servando Serna and sister, Amelia Zuniga.
Maria leaves behind to cherish her wonderful memories her sons, Eduardo "Tiny" Mendez, Leonel Mendez, Jr. and Mark (Clarissa) Mendez; daughter, Betty (Rene Rodriguez) Mendez; brother, Onofre Serna all of Hebbronville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Emilio Serna, Juan Mendez, Jr., Horacio Garcia, Jr., Tommy Barraz, Ignacio Serna and Benito Zuniga, Jr.
Holy rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
