Vargas, 78, entered into eternal rest in Kingsville, Texas on Thursday, April 4, 2013, where she was welcomed by the Lord; her parents, Idelfonso Chapa, Sr. and Josefa Benavides Chapa; grandson, Elisandro Vargas, III; brothers, Oliver Chapa, Arnold Chapa and Idelfonso Chapa, Jr. and sister, Herminia Quintanilla.

Maria was born on July 20, 1934 in San Diego, Texas. She was a loving housewife who always took care of her family.

Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Elisandro Vargas, Sr. of Falfurrias, Texas; sons, Elisandro Vargas, Jr., Dagoberto Vargas, Rolando Vargas all of Falfurrias, TX, Ricky Vargas of Dallas, TX and Gerardo Vargas of Falfurrias, TX; daughter, Anabel V. (Arnulfo Horacio) Garcia of Falfurrias, TX; sisters, Gloria (Ernest) Garcia of Brady, TX and Sylvia Ramirez of Cordele, GA; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special niece-in-law, Diana Lee Chavero and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearer will be: Jaime Ruelas, III.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
