Mario “Alacran” Castillo, tragically and unexpectedly, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 53. He was born on November 9, 1969 to Ricardo Castillo and Lydia Estrada in Kingsville, Texas. Mario was currently employed with Trifecta Oilfield Services as a Pusher.
In his younger years, Mario was an amateur boxer and his lifelong dream was to open a gym where he could train kids for boxing. He was a hardworking man who continuously had his sons on his mind and loved them dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and was always loyal to his close group of friends that he considered brothers. Mario also enjoyed gambling.
Mario is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica Johnson Vela of Falfurrias; sons, Mario Ray (Samantha Munoz) Castillo of Falfurrias, Cody James Castillo of Dallas, Texas and Aaron Anguiano of Colorado; step-mother, Antonia Castillo of Falfurrias; step-children, Mario (Gina) Morones, Jr. of Falfurrias, Phillip Robert (Vanessa Martinez) Morones and Vanessa (Gilbert) Garcia both of Premont; brothers, Tony Castillo of Kingsville, Ricky Castillo of Corpus Christi, Texas and Jaime Castillo of Falfurrias; sisters, Becca Sanchez of Kingsville, Daniella Castillo and Gabriella Castillo both of Falfurrias; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and one on the way and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jaime Castillo, Ricardo Castillo, Jr., Mario Ray Castillo, Cody James Castillo, Jose "Joe" H. Garza, Jose "Jojo" M. Gonzalez, Augustin "Auggie" Rodriguez and Lonnie Baker.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with Burial Service to follow at the Premont Cemetery.
