

Mary Beth Raymer Jungman was born October 8 1926 in Kirving, TX. to Magdalena Sparks Raymer and George John Raymer. She passed away June 3, 2021 at age of 94 in San Marcos, TX. Mary’s father died when she was 7 and Lloyd, one of her four brothers, took over and raised the family. Lloyd also paid for Mary’s college education. She attended elementary school in Hillsboro, TX and graduated high school as valedictorian in Abbot, TX. She later graduated from Texas Woman’s University with degrees in Home Economics and Elementary Education. For many years, Mary taught in elementary and high schools in Beeville, Weslaco, Mercedes, Premont and Hebbronville.
While teaching home economics in Weslaco, TX. Mary met her future husband, Claude Jungman, who was a coach at the same high school. They were married for 65 wonderful years before he passed Jan. 1, 2019. The Jungman’s lived in Weslaco, Premont, and Hebbronville where he was a coach and teacher and also a great influence on the lives of hundreds of students. He later became Superintendent of schools in Premont and Hebbronville while Mary helped educate and positively influence hundreds as well while raising 3 children.
Mary was a most gracious lady and was well loved not only by her family but also by many friends across south Texas! She had a kind, sweet nature and a most generous heart. Cecilia Galindo was a very special friend for Mary and blessed the family with many delicious treats from her kitchen! Mary loved the First Baptist Church of Premont including Pastor Rice and his wife Barbara.
Over many years, the Jungman family greatly enjoyed camping and fishing in beautiful settings throughout the western US mountain country! These were very special family times! Mary loved animals of all kinds, particularly cats, and bird watching. Vermillion fly catchers on the golf course in Falfurrias, Tx were a special treat. Along with husband Claude, she was an avid golfer and also loved playing cards particularly gin rummy! And she took great joy with the family vegetable garden and fruit trees growing in the back yard Jungman Fruit Ranch!
Mary Jungman was a very special person who will be sorely missed by friends and family! She was preceded in death by her husband Claude and daughter Cynthia Ann Jungman and is survived by her son Paul Jungman and daughter Susan Elizabeth Jungman, both of San Marcos TX.
Pallbearers will be Fabricio Barrera, Victor Cerda, Clark Rossi, Johnny Disbro, Robert Allen, Terry Carlile, Steve Daly, Art French, Jeff Holbein, and Bensavio Yzaguirre. Honorary Pallbearers will be Coach Jungman's boys on the '58 baseball team.
