Mauricio A. Colindres entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his residence in Hebbronville, Texas at the age of 67. He was born on September 12, 1956 to Jose Humberto Colindres and Sofia Esperanza Merino in Sonsonate, El Salvador. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces of El Salvador and later worked in construction and remodeling for over 40 years. Mauricio had a talent for refurbishing unpleasant or old items and making them more beautiful than they had ever been.
Mauricio had a passion for gardening and building birdhouses. He constantly had a smile on his face and loved to make people laugh and tell them stories. He always presented himself in a friendly and respectful way, making sure to ask and receive someone’s name and offer a handshake. Helping people was something he did often and he had such a kind heart.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sofia Esperanza Merino; his grandmother who raised him, Maria Teresa Colindres and his brother, Nilton Merino.
Left to cherish his memories are his father, Jose Humberto Colindres of Sonsonate, El Salvador; the love of his life, Gracy Reyna of Hebbronville; two daughters, Cecilia (Jose Rojas) Merino and Janie (Alonso Gamero) Ojeda both of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Osvaldo Merino and Julio Cezar Merino both of El Salvador; sisters, Dora Cecilia Merino (Ricardo) de Melendez and Ana Ruth Merino both of El Salvador; 10 grandchildren, Jason Merino, Joshua Mendez, Andres Velasquez, Adelita Velazquez, Ernesto Velasquez, Esmeralda Ojeda, Rosa Rodriguez, Abigail Ojeda, Casandra Gamero and Estrella Gamero; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Mendez, Andres Velasquez, Ernesto Velasquez, Danny Sanchez, Emerson Sanchez and Alfonso Gamero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Merino and Alonso Sanchez.
Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville with Burial to follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
