Minerva L. Gonzalez entered into the eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 85. She was born on May 29, 1934 to Martin Lopez and Consuelo Hinojosa Lopez in Falfurrias, Texas. Minerva was an educator for Brooks County ISD for over 40 years until her retirement. She also taught a few years at La Gloria and San Isidro ISD. She enjoyed getting to know all of the students she was blessed to teach. Minerva was the true matriarch of the family and loved them dearly.
She was very active in the church and enjoyed helping with fundraisers they would have. She was also one of the first members of the Schoenstatt Mothers church group and stayed loyal for over 30 years. Minerva was always working out and eating clean to stay healthy. Minerva and her husband, Adan, enjoyed getting out to restaurants together. They especially enjoyed sharing a great meal at King’s Inn with the family.
She was reunited in Heaven with her husband of 62 years, Adan Gonzalez, who entered into eternal rest just four months and one day before her; her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Elisa L. and Ramiro Villarreal.
She is survived by her four children, Lita (Steve Aragon) Gonzalez of Austin, Texas, Michael Gonzalez of Falfurrias, Tish Gonzalez of Sugar Land, Texas and Adan Gonzalez, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Martin (Chalann) Lopez Jr. of Falfurrias; five grandchildren, Matthew (Belinda) Gutierrez of San Marcos, Texas, Gabrielle (Jesse Gutierrez) Aragon of Buda, Texas, Joseph Aragon of Austin, Karilou Gonzalez and Joaquin Ramirez, III both of Falfurrias; two great-grandchildren, Gigi and Jionni Gutierrez of San Marcos and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias.
