Naela Marta Suarez Rodriguez entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 74. She was born on March 8, 1947 to Jose Natividad Suarez and Maria Ernestina Perez Suarez in Premont, Texas. Naela was a caregiver for her mother for the past 30 plus years. Throughout her lifetime, she also worked as a Secretary for Jim Wells County, Precinct 4 for over 25 years until her retirement. She then worked as a Bookkeeper with William Laughlin Farm, Gas and Oil for over 10 years.

Naela was a dedicated member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church of Premont and was the church housekeeper for many years as well as a member of the Guadalupanas. She was a faithful and good hearted person who was always willing to give without the need for anything in return. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb who loved plants. Baking was also a passion of hers and she was big on family gatherings and family time, especially with her two grandsons whom she loved dearly.

She was reunited in Heaven with her father, Jose Natividad Suarez; her husband, whom she recently lost in March, Rene Rodolfo Rodriguez, Sr.; her nephew, Alberto Suarez, Jr. and two brothers, Gavino Suarez and Alejandro Suarez.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughter, Lisa Ann Rodriguez (Luis, Sr.) Escalona of Alice, Texas; son, Rene R. (Monica) Rodriguez, Jr. of Alice; three brothers, Jose Suarez, Octaviano (Lucy) Suarez and Albert Suarez all of Premont; two grandsons, Luis Escalona, Jr. and Jonathan Escalona both of Alice; numerous nieces and nephews whom she helped raise and many extended family members and friends.

Due to the current ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, attendance for funeral services will be limited to 100 attendees and facial coverings are required.

A Rosary for both Rene and Naela will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. and services will conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery.

That is exactly true what Lisa your daughter said about you prima. I remember when my tia Rosa asked if she could stay with you, even though you were sick and taking care of your husband and mother, you couldn’t turn her down. You had a big heart and yes people ran over you, but you couldn’t refuse anyone. May you be resting in peace forever.... Never to be forgotten!

Dearest Momma, Never did I imagine you leaving me so soon. My biggest fear as a child has happened and I’m an adult now & I feel like that little girl. You were literally the rock to our family. Everyone knew they could come to you for anything. You always made sure others had before yourself, I would tell you time and time again to stop that. But it’s just who you are literally a walking Angel on earth. You mother are the strongest woman I know, you put up the most bravest fight against this nationwide pandemic. You and Daddy are my hero’s. I miss you very much every second of everyday that has passed I miss hearing your voice, your laugh and your funny assumptions about certain things. Momma I know you were already tired when this virus attacked you and that’s what made you weaker. I know you’re happy now and pain free seeing the virgencita in all her beauty and all those beautiful plants blooming all around you. Know that I love you always & forever & that I will miss you forever. I find this so hard to let go but I know you’re happy now and literally pain free. Watch down on us (Luis, Louie,Jon, myself, Wela, Renie, and all the family) you took a huge piece of my heart the day you left me momma.
Honored and blessed to be your little girl, love you always Lisa Ann
